ABOUT

#girlsinmuseums is a digital hub for posts, pics and comments regarding the roles of women

in the arts, culture and creative fields.

The Instagram account @girlsinmuseum started in early 2015 and its aim is to collect photographs having as subjects women and girls in museums, galleries and cultural venues.

The photographs are tracked through the use of the hashtag #girlsinmuseums via social networks.

After just few months, in October 2015, @girlsinmuseum expanded with a Twitter account and hit the milestone of 5.000 Instagram followers and 6.000 UCG (Users Generated Contents) reached with organic-only efforts.

Our daily activity is mainly focused on pointing out the gender gap that is still to be found in every field of human activities but that is especially highlighted in the art world, where women artists, curators, art advisors, gallery owners and professionals struggle to achieve high-responsanbility positions.

By doing this, we do not want to fight male chauvinism, men or male privilege.

We want rather to be recognized and defined as person and professional before as women.

Our mission is first and foremost to promote the work and professionalism of women in the cultural and artistic sector worldwide by communicating it in an alternative way. And secondly, but not least, @girlsinmuseums' mission is to make art part of the daily life that we live continuously on social networks and to allow every day a small or big discovery and a pause in the scroll thanks to beauty, culture and art.

GET INVOLVED

Be part of the worldwide #girlsinmuseums community in 5 easy steps:

1.

Go visit a museum, an art gallery, an exhibition, an art installation, a cultural venue or everything that involve arts, culture and museums. It can be anywhere in the world!

2.

Snap some pictures of girls, women, mothers, grannies, friends, lovers… everyone!

Be ready to capture every little details, every poses, every selfie or whatever you find interesting/curious/odd/creative/strange/sweet/peculiar/beautiful/artistic/casual/fashion and much more!


3.

Be creative with your own content! It can be just the pic of your feet walking through some beautiful mosaics… or your mirror selfie in a Michelangelo Pistoletto or Anish Kapoor’s artwork… or maybe your friends kissing each other and portrayed with the background of the stunning Sistine Chapel!

There are no rules, your creative flair is more than enough!

4.

Post the picture on your personal or corporate social network accounts!


5.

Add the hashtag #girlsinmuseums as copy or as comment to your post.

It’s done!

The @girlsinmuseums team keeps daily track of every picture posted and content curates our gallery on Instagram.

CAMILLA CRESCINI

Camilla works as Associate Manager Social Media & Digital PR and has been Manager, Specialist, Strategist & Consultant. In her several years of experience, she worked for agencies, media companies, a well-known Swiss-American cosmetics company, museums, galleries, institutions and more. 

She is guest lecturer for the topic Social Media in Arts & Culture in Università Bocconi, Accademia di Brera, Master Relational Design, MA Become a Curator and the winner of BNP Paribas Scolarship for the 10 Best Graduates AA 2015/2016 and European LLP EPIC Scolarship for academic results.

She has been selected for the Harvard Summer School on Beauty, Leadership and Innovation at the Harvard University (2015). 

She trains Italian Beauty Guides, Entrepreneurs in the Beauty & Art Industry & various Professionals on the topics of Marketing, Branding, Social Media and more. 

Strongly experienced and passionate in Social Media, Digital Strategy and Data Analytics & Forecasting, with highly specialised working knowledge in SM marketing, Digital Funnel Architecture, Visual Content, Marketing, Advertising, event and digital media planning, listening, CRM and digital strategies with a strong focus in the Arts, Culture, Brands, Retail, B2C and Media area.
